Clerk to Governing Body (part-time) - to start ASAP

The Governing Body work very closely with the Senior Leadership of the school, providing support and challenge.
A knowledgeable and experienced Clerk is therefore required to support them in their work.

The main purpose of this role is to provide advice to the GB on governance, constitutional and procedural matters, and in particular:

  • Provide effective administrative support to the GB and its committees;
  • Ensure the GB is properly constituted;
  • Manage information effectively in accordance with legal requirements.

Governing Body meetings are held at 8.30am at school on Tuesdays (approx. 1.5-2hrs duration), and there are usually 10 formal meetings per academic year (i.e. 3-4 each term). Attendance in school is only required for scheduled meetings. All additional administration (pre/post meeting) can be processed from home.


This role is a permanent, part-time position (requiring approx. 10 hrs per meeting to include attendance, pre & post administration – during term time)
Salary would be amortised over the year (paid monthly) and is based on 100hrs per year
Number of hours / meetings clerked could be negotiable for the right applicant

Surrey Pay PS6 - £24,780-27317 FTE (approx £1,530-£1,687 pro-rata)
